I do too. It's something I really admire about you because not everyone can do it.
I'm less interested in what supports my perspective than I am in understanding what is the closest to the actual truth (admitting that this is usually somewhat subjective and perhaps not ever to be attained). The other day a commenter challenged something that I'd written in a story, and although I initially blew him off because I thought that I was correct, he eventually presented me with something that demonstrated that I really wasn't about that particular statistic, so I thanked him and changed the story to reflect that. Because as much as I like to be right, I don't need that in order to have a sense of self.
Not liking certain music because of the politics of the artist is a pretty slippery slope in my mind and one that I don't care to slide down.
