I don't disagree with most of what you've said, except asserting that a woman discussing her prefernces is promoting genital mutilation without consent or that it's primarily about aesthetics. Circumcision is a cultural practice and also a medical procedure recommended by the CDC.
"The guidelines do not outright call for circumcision of all male newborns, since that is a personal decision that may involve religious or cultural preferences, Dr. Jonathan Mermin, director of the CDC's National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD and TB Prevention, told the Associated Press. But "the scientific evidence is clear that the benefits outweigh the risks," Mermin said.
My husband's grandfather was circumcized in his 70s for health reasons, and I'm sure he wished it had taken place when he was an infant instead. There are plenty of other health-related things that parents do to their children without their express consent.
So, you are entitled to your views, although the supports you've presented don't really hold up. You are still entitled to say that's not something you want for yourself or a child of yours, just as Lindsay is entitled to say that given the choice, she prefers it.
