I finally had to block that guy because he'd show up on every story of mine that had data or research mentioned and quibble. He likes to argue, and almost never will concede a point, no matter how definitely you've made it. He told my friend Lorelei all about a book he'd never read (and she had) and where her beliefs were out of alignment with the author's (again, never having read the book). He has a chip on his shoulder about women/feminism and he really, really likes to get into arguments that have tiny or meaningless distinctions that are irrelevant to the larger topic, or as you've said, quibble with research that you didn't actually do. He once told me all about the history of religious tolerance in America because it was in the Constitution and from time to time was demonstrated in the real world - despite the mountain of evidence of how from our earliest days as colonies, there was little to no religious tolerance AT ALL, and it's still a huge problem today. It's the worst kind of Pollyanna nonsense just so he can hear himself talk, and so that white men don't look so problematic.
