I find this over and over again - particularly from men who are trying to justify violence and patriarchy as somehow natural. Sure, if you look only at the last 3-4% of human history it might seem that way, but although 12 thousand years ago might seem like a long, long time, in comparison to the actual breadth of history, it's just a drop in the bucket.

Once I started learning about this I felt compelled to share it because the way we do things now is far from a foregone conclusion.
