I frequently have to remind commenters that they are responding to things that I haven't actually said and that I am not responsible for what other people whom you have decided are "a lot like me" have said. Sometimes they back down and realize that they were inappropriately generalizing and sometimes they are too emotionally triggered to be able to do that.
I also get a significant number of notes to the effect of what I should have written about or about what I've left out. I then have to remind the reader that I write stories that last between 4-10 mintues and that I can't possibly fit in everything into that time frame. Also, I write about what interests me, and what I have personal experience with. "If what you care about was left out, go write your own story."
Thanks for this level-headed advice about people who may be problematic readers.
