I get what you are saying, although these researchers were women. I think they were trying to make the point that a man who feels entitled to sexual access to a woman doesn't necessarily come across as an asshole in other ways - making the point that this subconscious programming that women exist for the pleasure of men is so deep that a guy who feels that way doesn't present as a monster - which speaks to how insidious this belief truly is.
I didn't have a phone until we'd been married for two years and even then, we had one we split. It was several years after that before I had a Smart Phone, so I never dealt with this aspect but I think that younger generations film everything and often believe that they are entitled to do so and to distrubute it as they see fit. Even those who know that a private moment is private may break that social contract if the relationship ends via revenge porn, etc.
