I have a friend who got her MBA from Columbia and then joined a cohort of other new grads at a prestigious NYC financial institution. The guys all shut the women out, barely even deigning to talk to them, and a few years later, each of those men had a series of accolades, and promotions, and other perks that came from the support of the "no girls" mafia. None of the bright, talented, driven young women did. They'd been systemically shut out, and their careers reflected it.

Thanks for writing about this. Sadly, I think it has a lot more impact coming from a man.
