I just had a longish chat with him and I get how sometimes you are trying to entertain and aren't really thinking about what you are saying, and I also pointed out to him that he could have said that immediately, but didn't. Which meant that he forfeited his chance to ask for that kind of leeway. I guess we shall see what happens next, but this is certainly an interesting spot that I never expected to find myself in.
