I left a long comment on your story, the gist of which is that how you imagine the world should work is vastly different than how it actually does. Part of this is because we live in dominance hierarchy based cultures where women are actively socialized to acquiesce to men and part of this is because the rational part of human brains isn't fully developed until we are around 25.
I was probably close to 50 before I peeled back enough of how I'd been taught to be by my culture to become the mouthy, take no shit, confident woman that you know. Most women don't really find themselves in that way until their 40s and some never do. Would it be great if that weren't the case? Absolutely - but making that individual women's fault for not having enough "agency" to have gotten there sooner is both delusional and unkind.
