I love this! Although I’ve certainly heard from plenty of men who try to defend the rightness and naturalness of gender roles. But there are many ways to counter that, from both the past and the present, where gender expectations are not the same as we have now. I asked one guy if he’d like to go live in ancient Egypt at the time when women did most of the commerce and men stayed at home and did the weaving. What if you hated weaving or were terrible at it, I asked him. Then he said he wasn’t talking about jobs but roles, so I said, “Oh, so you want to maintain where it’s the role of women to caretake and support. And what about all the men who are the primary caregiver for their children? Are they wreaking havoc on society?” That was the end of that.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
