I really didn't like the ending for that reason, and a lot of other people agreed. We'd at least like to believe that Daenerys didn't have to be corrupted by power, even as she had good intentions in the beginning.

As I like to say, once you really see the domination system in action, it's impossible to not see how it infuses everything - even fictional stories.
