I really love this! The relationship escalator says that everything should be heading towards married, monogamous, cohabitation. But that isn’t always the right level for every relationship and attaining that is no guarantee of happiness. I have a life partner who lives on the other side of the country. Our commitment to each other has nothing to do with living together or even being able to see each other any more since he now lives on the other side of the country from us. My commitment to my husband is not at all affected by the fact that I also love someone else too.
