I resonate with so much of this and have tried very hard not to be that parent. I can only hope that I've succeeded. I do have a life-long love of learning, but I became a research-based writer in large part because it was harder for other people (mostly male people) to dismiss me out of hand if I had citations from Scientific American and peer-reviewed research papers to support what I've said. I'd give you some stats on how women and girls tend to be disbelieved more often but I know I don't need to because you have already experienced that first hand.
Thanks for writing this, and sending you a big hug.
