I said "that's bullshit" but that doesn't mean I don't believe women. I've repeatedly asserted that feminists are making things up but that's not disbelieving women. 🙄

Do you even hear yourself? The fact that you often give positive feedback to women/feminists writers doesn't erase the times where you are quite demonstrably NOT listening and learning from people with a different experience than you have. I didn't say that you never do this. I said you need to improve how much you do it.

It's entirely irrelevant to well-documented broad social dynamics how you feel or act in a similar situation. This kind of centering yourself in the equation is a huge failing in the "listening to others" paradigm.

As I've already noted, you are more than welcome to challenge anything you want or to hold a different opinion - IF it is based in something other than how it feels to you and that alone. But telling people from a marginalized demographic that they don't understand their lived experiences and that you know better than they about what's going on in the culture related to those experiences with nothing to base it on but your feelings is completely out of line.

Men are not a marginalized demographic and quite demonstrably, a lot of men feel "attacked" when women are talking about real-life experiences and paradigms. Too bad. Personal experiences have to fit into a larger culturally documented scope in order for them to be reflective of a societal dynamic. And, overwhelmingly the things that women talk about on Medium or more generally are extremely well-documented - pretty much around the world. You deciding to doubt aspects of that because you don't think that way is exactly what I'm talking about here.

You are not the center of these dynamics, nor the arbiter of whether they are real or not. Pretending that you are is the opposite of listening to each other.
