I saw a meme the other day ostensibly with a quote from Bill Maher saying that when he was a kid he wanted to be a pirate but good thing they didn't schedule him for peg leg surgery. This is absurd because as you've pointed out, trans children under 18 never have medical or surgical interventions.

When I pointed out the puberty blockers were a safe way to hit pause until a child was old enough to make more lasting decisions, the person posting the meme said that we didn't know whether they were safe or not. However, this is also a disingenuous claim of the reactionary because puberty blockers have been used for decades on cis kids who have a condition related to early onset puberty. All major mainstream medical associations and the FDA recognize them as both safe and important in reducing depressing and preventing suicide in gender dysphoric children.

The fact that it's more important to these people that children conform even if it means they will kill themselves is highly disturbing to me.
