I seemed to have missed that particular article, but I've read too many others like it. The one I read the guy was preaching benevolent leadership, but it was still hierarchy based. I got the distinct sense that he felt that if a man wasn't needed to "provide" something that he didn't know who he was - and that providing partnership wasn't enough - which is sad.
These guys seem to conflate all sorts of things too, like confidence and owning what you have to offer a relationship with leadership and hierarchy. Those aren't remotely the same things. Thinking of writing a story about that next.
You are absolutely right that guys should read women writers and hang out with women as friends. That's a much better way to learn what women actually want.
