I so get this. I was 28 when I married and my father had just died. I had a career in my name and didn’t particularly like my husband’s family. He didn’t mind one bit. What’s the big deal? Our son has my last name as his middle name. We’ve been happily married for 27 years. As my mom ages, it’s actually been a big help to have the same last name as she has.
