I think because men are so taught to suppress emotions they end up being run by them from behind the scenes a good bit of the time.

And what kind of stupid statement is it that "men built everything." Not only were women not allowed to even try to participate in building anything, they were forced to stay at home and take care of everything else - for free - so that men could go about the building business unencumbered by having to do their own laundry or cook their own meals.
