I think many people believe the binary because it’s simple and easy; meanwhile, nothing about that topic is simple or easy. And there are a certain number who get how misogynistic they are and think that’s fine because that IS after all the God-given role of women and they need to get back in their lane where they belong. It’s no accident that anti-choice sentiment flared up in the 1970s along with equality movements.

To me the thing that is most compelling, and that I hope to write about at some point is that there is no other instance in American law where the life of someone else outweighs body autonomy, e.g, the government can’t compel you to give blood.
