I think most women find dating apps pretty horrific - which is not to say that they don't still use them - but the amount of bullshit on them in between scammers, fake accounts, and just disgustingly behaved guys is very high. The ideal is to meet someone through a friend or shared activity - or some other in person venue (bar or party) where you can actually get a sense of each other in real time. It's also the best place for a guy who doesn't "showcase" the best on an app to shine because his personality and other things than just looks have a chance to help in making that first impression.
Younger people seem addicted to their phones and don't seem to know how to hold actual conversations. Learning that skill would be a real asset, I would think. Apps may be less vulnerable, but I think they are also less successful for a whole lot of people.
