I think you hit the nail on the head here (with the exception of characterizing feminism as a victim mentality). When I was in my early 20s and living in my first apartment, I hear what was clearly abuse going on overhead. I banged on the ceiling with my shoe. A minute later there was furious pounding on my door. I went to the back of the apartment and called the police. A few days later they got evicted, and I was so relieved although I felt bad for her to maybe move someplace where noone would do that for her. I was scared, but also glad that I had interrupted things. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Standing up for each other is a major part of how we interrupt this dynamic. The dominance hierarchy "rules" are that whomever has the most social power gets to abuse those with less with impugnity. Whenver we challenge that, we interrupt patriarchy.
