It's better to some extent, but based on things like the scope of rape in these countries, there's still a long way to go to truly get beyond. I had to point out to him that having the same income isn't going to cure anyone steeped in dominance hierarchies of trying to feel superior to others on another front. He didn’t want to believe me because then he’d have to take responsibility for the ways that he benefits from and is steeped in patriarchy and he doesn’t want to do that. In fact, he’s deeply defensive about it even though he knows that patriarchy is a social system that doesn’t = men.
