I think you’ve misread or misinterpreted what this piece is about. It’s about how a culture of entitlement leads to disregard for the welfare of others…. even fish. It’s not really about fishing.

Anyone who likes to fish should be able to do that, although I agree that I’m not a fan of catch and release. But if one is going to do that, they should take the welfare and comfort of the fish into some regard because it doesn’t exist simply for their entertainment and enjoyment.
