I worry too that it will all come to late. Sitting around the campfires in our burning world is no way to have to come together. Still, I think talking about other possibilities is one way to help make them more likely, so that's what I continue to do - to write about this kind of thing. There's a huge push back against it, which is interesting in itself. So many men (and it's always men) don't want to believe in a world where war and mass violence have not always been ubiquitous. They fight me tooth and nail, despite all the evidence to the contrary. Of course, humans have capacity for violence, and there may well be some cultures where it existed more than others but there's a big difference between that being widely accepted and systemic and it being occasional and an aberration.
