I would think it would be pretty easy to figure out if the same 20 people were always reading each other's stories and giving them a lot of claps. There are certainly people that I nearly always read who nearly always read me, but we're not in a an overlapping set with other people who are clearly doing the same thing. Reading too fast and not giving very engaged comments would certainly make that easier to spot.
