If I had a baby who needed a bone marrow transplant and we couldn't find one, but you had the right match, you could not be compelled to give bone marrow, not even to save my baby's life. It is exactly the same thing with unwanted pregnancy (although it is not treated that way under the law for patriarchal reasons) but there is zero difference.

I don't particularly care what I look like to others on the internet. If what I had already said to him (which is still up) doesn't resonate for people, then there is no amount of rational discourse that is going to change their minds. I appreciate that you seem to think I have some magical ability to cut through the bullshit, but I don't. Sanctity of life only has meaning when it relates to what happens after birth. People who consider themselves pro-life are not - they are pro-birth, which is not the same thing.

As I already said to him, unless you are putting all of your energy into preventing unwanted pregnancies in the first place, via affordable and accessible contraception, and providing support and assistance to new mothers, then you don't actually care about the lives of babies - you care about punishing women. There are plenty of other strong pro-choice voices online but it doesn't even matter because people who are emotionally invested in their position are not going to change their minds, no matter how strong or logical the arguments are. That's just the way it is.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
