If it's none of your business, then why are you writing a story about it - one that misrepresents a lot of well-documented sociological dynamics? And if you don't want people to comment, then why are you publishing in a format that allows for comments? You wrote an opinion piece based on nothing but how it seems to you from the outside and I responded with both my personal experience as a mother and my knowledge base as a social scientist, including quotes from a scientific journal. How exactly is that "smug" or out of line?

I've enjoyed reading you in the past, and was simply surprised that you would engage in this kind of narrative without ever investigating the point of view or experience of the people you are mocking. It just comes across as lashing out, as does your response to my primarily fact-based input. If noting that is offensive, I guess I know all I need to know.
