If more men tried to date women who are in their league they'd find that the pool is adequate, but since men have been raised on the Seth Rogan dates Charlize Theron (and other women way out of his league) stories, they think they should get to do that too. When it doesn't work out very often - not unless they've got a really stellar personality like Pete Davidson does - they complain that women are too shallow. Meanwhile, they aren't trying to date their "match."
When women say they can't find any quality men overwhelmingly they mean nice, interesting, doesn't act entitled, willing to pull their weight in the relationship, interested in the woman as a person, and not as a kind of side-kick, that sort of thing. Women like hot bodies as much as anybody but for most women, it's really not the primary thing they are looking for in a relationship. Maybe in a one time hookup but not in a partner. That's the difference.
