If she had a physical condition rather than a mental/emotional condition, would it then be OK to give her "special" treatment to accomodate that? These are human beings we're talking about, not commodities who exist solely for the financial benefit of the tour and their sponsors (all of whom, BTW, are supporting her doing what she needs to do to care for herself - it's only the tour itself that is the problem).

I agree that part of a potential solution is to reign in the way the press acts with these players so that all players are treated less aggressively, but if you wouldn't say "suck it up, buttercup" to someone with a physical injury, then you shouldn't be doing so to someone with a mental/emotional one.
