If you live or grew up in a Western democracy, you almost certainly did grow up with this messaging. As already noted, anger for men is equated with strength and masculinity, even if it clouds actual logic or sound judgement, the Man Box norms pretend that it doesn't, and that it's a show of dominance and control (even if it looks like being out of control). It's a real problem in Western culture.
