I'm a cis woman who tends to dress in a fairly "feminine" way but because I'm tall and have short hair (and big energy) I get called sir on a fairly regular basis. I've been called sir wearing a flowered miniskirt and carrying a big robin's egg blue purse - and it's not because they think I'm trans, because the men who do it (it's only ever men) look and act super embarrased afterward. It's usually when people aren't looking directly at me, but still, I can only imagine how others must feel, because I'm sure not too keen on it. I'm with you all the way on these forms of address going by the wayside.
