I'm glad you agree, because I hate to level that accusation at someone lightly (and I didn't actually call him a pedophile) but the more I reflect on it, the more it seems that this is what he was angling at. I've got a story percolating in my head now about this longing for a world that some men seem to have where they can treat women as chattel, there for their pleasure, and how outraged they are when they learn that patriarchy is a very new development. He refused to acknowledge that human social systems had changed fundamentally around the time of the agricultural revolution and I think it's because he'd always assumed (and liked the assumption) that patriarchy had always existed; that it was only right and natural for men to access women at will and do whatever they wanted to with them... Given what he said, and how he reacted (and the fact that he didn't deny it) - that's the only thing that makes sense. SMH!
