I'm hardly an expert but I know more about wine than my husband does and I definitely notice when it's easy and seamless to interact with the waiter or sommelier and they treat me with respect. I also appreciate how when this doesn't happen automatically, my husband will graciously direct them to interact with me. I've had largely good experiences but I do believe that there's plenty of room for improvement in the industry.
