I'm just old enough (nearly 57) that I can easily remember a time when no women shaved their "bikini area." Somehow men not only survived this but also managed to find these women sexually attractive. It's one thing to have a "fashion" and to observe it or not, but it's really silly and regressve to act like women with pubic hair, in particular, are disgusting and "inedible."

You make some really good points about how patriarchy is so much the ocean that we all swim in that even a bunch of feminists may often be oblivious to some of it's aspects. Sigh...
