I'm not asking you to answer these right now, but I'm posing the questions as a way to focus this discussion for the future.

If you are interested in the Why of something, please tell me why in some cultures rape is common and a huge problem and in some cultures it is non-existent.

Why do men commit so much more violence than women in most cultures? And in some cultures men commit almost no violence. And don't say testosterone, because that isn't it and the men in the non-violent cultures have testosterone too.

Why are there cultures that have strict gender norms and ones that don't, even if they tend to divide work by gender?

Why do some cultures adhere vehemently to only two genders, where one is imagined to be inherently subordinate to the other, and in some other cultures there are 3, 5, or 7 genders?

Why are there some cultures that believe in balance and power sharing between men and women, and some that don't? Why do some cultures trace lineage and major goods like land and houses through the mother's line and some that trace that through the father's line?

For me, the why always comes through observing and dissecting the how via the scientific method. Otherwise, I think one is just giving a platform to existing biases and beliefs and then deciding they explain things.

I'll look forward to hearing your answers when you are ready.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
