I’m not trying to detract from your story in any way. I’m sure it was a shock to find that someone you found likable also did bad things. However, this is the problem with assigning people either black hats or white hats (as so many like to do) — most people are a combination of both. He wasn’t a bad man who tricked you into believing otherwise; he was both a sexual predator and someone with other interesting or redeeming qualities. As a society, we’d do better to not decide whether someone is a good guy or a bad guy and to realize that they might well be both at the same time.
