I’m quite sure it would make for entertaining television although it was a lot less fun to live through. The additional kicker is that we’d just gone through a weekend retreat where we’d been learning about more partnership oriented governance, letting the people closest to the work own and manage a project, trusting our peers, etc. James, who has been around boards most of his adult life was shaking his head in disbelief. I was tearing out my hair, because to remind them of all of that was considered pedantic — not unlike your other story about lesbians/communists where it’s considered impolite to correct someone’s facts at the dinner table.
