I'm reading a book right now called Becoming Wild that talks about various animal cultures and how not everything with animals is strictly instinct and innate. They mentioned Cousteau in the segment on sperm whales, and the irony of the supposed "Silence" of the ocean, which is far from it.
Patriarchy teaches men that they are at the top of all creation, that exerting dominance is not only valid, but necessary, and that the way the world is now is only right and natural. It truly has taken a greater body of female scientists (and some more enlightened men) to begin to not look at the things that they study through this lens. I hope to write something about that at some point.
I appreciate your comment.
