I'm really sad to hear that Margaret Atwood has embraced this madness, but it seems like yet another manifestation of white feminism believing that its only purpose is to serve the needs of white women in relation to men, rather than in creating a more inclusive and equitable world for all. She's essentially jumped on the patriarchal bandwagon that believes that granting rights to others diminishes your rights, because in a social hierarchy, there still needs to be ranking - we can't tolerate a more level playing field. This is deeply ingrained in our culture, but it's still disturbing. Thanks for writing this.
