I'm so tired of what MLK referred to as "a bid for 'tranquility and the status quo' at the expense of justice and humanity." I'm tired of even men who view themselves as allies telling women to be nicer - as if in the history of the world injustice was ever mitigated by someone being nice. I'm sick of the men who refuse to see themselves as part of a social system and who declare that if they haven't done anything, it's unfair to lump them in with those who have. Dude, the fact that you haven't done anything to address the systems that allow the bad things to go on unimpeded is a huge part of the problem. I'm fed up with all the men who want to get sympathy for the parts of patriarchy that harm them, but who want to maintain the aspects that advantage them - all the while having little sympathy for women except as lip service.

Yesterday a guy had the nerve to tell me that most men are actually fighting patriarchy. I had to point out a very long list of things that wouldn't be taking place if that were actually true. It's a world of intentional delusion and it's incredibly frustrating.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
