I'm sorry, but that is literally the worst line of made up BS I've ever heard to try to justify somebody's terrible behavior. Besides the fact that he gave a 😍 face to a picture of her surfing in a bikini before they were together, you don't need specialized knowledge to comprehend that surfers wear bathing suits, models take pictures, and that women talk to men other than their partner, particularly if they are teaching them to surf, but even if they aren't.

It is never, ever appropriate to tell someone else what they are allowed to wear, what they are allowed to do, or who they are allowed to speak to. And realizing that you feel threatened in a relationship is not growing or changing.
