I'm very happy for you and completely support your right to continue engaging in a happy and healthy monogamous relationship. But the fact of the matter is, monogamy is a patriarchal construct that did not exist before it's onset 6-9 K years ago. Something like 54% of Americans still believe that the man is the "head of the family" and even more than that believe that having children is the single most important thing that a woman can do. Most monogamous relationships are not equal, with well documented statistics about how much more child, home, and elder care women do, even if they work outside the home. Our culture continues to normalize jealousy and controlling behavior, particularly from men. So, I'm not pointing at your happy monogamous relationship, I'm pointing at all of that stuff.
