I’m willing to concede that it can be difficult to truly communicate on the internet and perhaps we have been talking past each other in some respect. I am however giggling at the notion that you believe you have ever attempted to agree with me. You’ve been entirely absorbed with winning and with painting me as some kind of rabid radical who hates men, which couldn’t be further from the truth. As far as I’m concerned, you’ve made no attempts to agree with anything that I’ve ever said or to even have a real, substantive discussion — ever.

And, I don’t understand why you won’t accept off color jokes, slurs, and discriminatory terms as speech — which they clearly are? Hell, burning the American flag counts as speech. Companies spending money counts as speech. Literally saying harassing and discriminatory words sure as hell counts as speech!

Anyway, I do believe that your heart is in the right place, but I would encourage you to stop picking sides and to instead speak/write about the things that maybe not everyone knows about (such as how much violence is perpetrated against men by women) as a way to round out the picture, rather than to blame and divide. Patriarchy has harmed us all and we can create something better if we work together. But part of that process is owning and recognizing what has not worked well in the past and the real harms that have been perpetrated and still are being perpetrated. We can’t just put icing over mud and call it cake. That’s not actually helping anybody.

Cheers,

Elle

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
