In addition, there are no other instances in American law where you are required to save someone else's life with your own. You cannot be compelled to give blood or bone marrow - even if it would save someone's life - not even the life of a child. You cannot harvest organs from someone who has died (to save other lives) unless that person has given written permission beforehand. The fact that dead bodies have more legal rights than living women ought to be a shocking thing, but for some, it isn't, because they believe (either subconsciously or overtly) that this is what women are for - to birth and raise babies.
Additionally, most women who seek abortions do so because they already have other children and cannot afford to care for another one. Forcing a child to be born into poverty and deprivation isn't a kindness in my book.
