Indeed! We always had a pretty good relationship by societal metrics, but it's only been in the past few years that he's truly stepped into being a full partner in the way that I really want - and it's glorious! He's happy, and I'm ecstatic. Talk about a win/win.

Unfortunately, the statistics indicate that more men are willing to do this as co-habitating partners but tend to slide into "I want a wife" mode once the wedding takes place. It's cultural programming at its worst, although I do think that at least some younger men are moving away from this.
