Isn't life kind of full of trials and hardships? And right now, men are expected to shoulder that alone and pretend it's all OK - contributing to the distressing levels of loneliness, depression, and suicide in men, in part because men don't feel they can turn to each other (or their dads) for support. It's only the wife or the girlfriend who ever hears if they are struggling - maybe, if they even have one...

And if you're talking about a generation that grew up with participation trophies for everyone and that sort of thing, that didn't come out of feminism, it came as a backlash to the 1950s parenting that the Baby Boomers received and how they wanted a kinder, gentler life for their children.
