It drives me around the bend how many people feel fine about asserting something that just feels right to them without ever doing the first bit of investigation - particularly when they are contradicting someone who has actually formed an outlook based on something of substance. Intelligent people can sometimes disagree about what certain data or evidence means, but at least it has some basis in reality (unlike so many cultural narratives).
