It IS the exact issue! Women are a marginalized and discriminated against group of people. If some of them have contempt for men, it's in direct proportion to what they have suffered at the hands of men just about every day since they were small children - and continue to suffer with no actual relief in sight. Expecting oppressed people to take up the issues of the oppressing class - caused by the very same social system that is harming everyone is the height of insanity. Female surgeons are getting groped DURING surgical procedures and everyone knows it's happening and nobody is doing anything about it (as just one example). We don't have time to fix the problems you men caused for yourselves. We have our hands full. How about you guys go do that for men and stop demanding that we take care of you at our own expense?
And yeah, a lot of LGBTQ folks do have contempt for the people who oppress them. They're just a much smaller demographic and unless you are plugged into that community, you probably aren't hearing about it. Why exactly are we supposed to be nice to the people who are either hurting us or who are upholding the system that is allowing that harm to go on unabated?
Saying that you aren't going to take shit from patriarchy and the men who either uphold it or turn a blind eye to it is not misandry. Masculine norms ARE the problem!! The APA just issued new guidelines based on 40 years of research that detail how deeply mainstream masculine norms are harming men - and everyone else. Stop victim blaming and go do something constructive to improve this culture for everybody.
