It makes me just crazy when men purposefully refuse to see this and pretend it’s actually a compliment. One of my favorite retorts though is that I’ve been catcalled on the street fully and respectably dressed and I’ve been complimented in a sex club wearing not much of anything and the latter feels great, while the former does not. That is the difference — in the club, there is no sense of entitlement or ownership, just genuine appreciation. Catcalling is always about asserting dominance, even if that is subconscious.
