It took women nearly 100 years of constant advocacy - and a certain amount of being jailed and brutalized in prison in order to get the right to vote. No, there was not a "surprising amount of male support" or it wouldn't have taken nearly a century to finally get that right. As much as white Americans despised Black men, they still granted them the right to vote 50 years before any women.

"It was a long and laborious struggle, not just through the courts, but also in the court of public opinion. When suffrage seekers picketed the White House in 1917 women were spat on, shoved, pinched, and beaten -sometimes by the police, and then arrested. In jail, some were sexually assaulted and manhandled. Those who went on hunger strikes in protest were forcibly fed."

Honestly, you need to brush up on your history - including the history of the women's movement in America. We're in the 4th wave of feminism - the first wave began in the 19th century. Of course, there have always been some men who are supportive of women's equality but they have also been distinctly in the minority. If that weren't the case, women would have actual equality by now, they wouldn't have to routinely sue to have their legal rights upheld. Sexual harassment is not about sex - it's a way to remind women "of their place." If most men supported women's empowerment and equality, we wouldn't have had the #MeToo movement. I could go on and on, but it's not my job to educate you. Go educate yourself because you've got some pretty off-base ideas.

And you still haven't provided even one example of how men have played a notable role in the changing role of women. Women HAVE been at war with the laws and norms of this country pretty much since the beginning and although I certainly appreciate the ways that some men have offered some allyship and support, they are in the concerted minority. Trying to center men in this narrative is both pathetic and completely off base.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
